About Crown & Diwan
A market entry practice built from years inside the Gulf, and the conviction that the right guidance should not only be available to those who can commission it privately.
WHO WE ARE
Two Advisors. One Region.
James Thorp
Over a decade embedded with GCC Family Offices, primarily in Qatar, with relationships and businesses built across Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. James works on the parts of Gulf market entry that decide everything quietly: cultural positioning, how authority and decisions actually move, and the difference between a pitch that lands and one that disqualifies you without a word. He leads the cultural intelligence and commercial strategy behind the work.
George Colley
A fluent Arabic speaker with a strong presence across Saudi business circles. His background spans Fortune 100 strategy consulting and over a billion in M&A advisory. George bridges GCC and London markets through his advisory practice and has built one of the more visible Western voices in the region on LinkedIn. He leads on pipeline, positioning, and presence: how you become known to the right people, and trusted by them, before a conversation ever begins.
Discretion
The Gulf runs on trust, and trust runs on confidence kept.
We say less, we name no one we should not, and we treat your business as our own.
Directness
We do not soften a hard read or bury it in compliments. If something in your approach is quietly costing you, you will hear it plainly, because that is the only version that helps.
Why We Built This
For years, getting the Gulf right was only available the expensive way, through private advisory that most founders will never be in a position to commission. We had both watched capable people fail in the region for reasons no one had told them: the silent signals, the positioning that disqualifies, the relationships that decide everything before a deal is discussed.
We built The GCC Blueprint to change that, to put the same system within reach of anyone serious about entering the Gulf properly. For those who want us in the room with them, our private advisory remains. The course opens the door. The advisory walks you through it.
"A rare combination: deep operating experience, fluency in GCC commercial dynamics, and the discipline to ask the question nobody else in the room has thought to ask. Not theory, advice earned in the room."
- Former Fortune 200 SVP, AI and strategy
"A rare combination of analytical rigour and genuine cultural intelligence. The recommendations were commercially sharp and culturally relevant, from someone who knows the Western and Gulf worlds from the inside."
- Principal, global strategy consultancy
"Real cultural intelligence about how business actually works in the Gulf, not the textbook version. I was shown what my prospects were hearing versus what I thought I was saying, and the gap was bigger than I wanted to admit."
- Co-Founder and CEO, AI platform
